A full day out exploring the Karangahake Gorge.

Our signature Gold Diggers Trail is your chance to explore the spectacular Karangahake Gorge in comfort and style. We have specifically tailored the timing of this tour for cruise ship visitors and for those looking for a full day cycling adventure.

The Itinerary

• 9:00am pick-up at Salisbury Wharf (for Cruise Ship visitors), your hotel or another agreed meeting point.
• A 50min drive in our luxury shuttle takes us to Waihi where our cycle tour starts.
• A leisurely 1.5 hour ride through the extensive cycleway created along and through the gorge which includes the 1.1km Rail tunnel.
• A 40min stop for lunch - enjoy our delicious gourmet picnic including club sandwiches and a slection NZ treats.
• We then leave our bikes for the 1hour stroll through the famous and breathtaking Windows Walk. Have your camera ready for those Instagram perfect shots!
• Our departure from Waihi will then have you back at your original destination by 4:00pm.

What We Provide

• NZ bottled spring water to keep you fuelled & hydrated en route.
• A special gourmet picnic lunch hand-made by the locally famous team at Delicacy Cafe!
• Pick-up & return to your destination in our luxury shuttle van.
• Rain ponchos if there is a chance of light rain (we will cancel if the weather is no good).
• An experienced and super enthusiastic guide who can also take photos of you along the way.

What You Need

• Be healthy and fit enough to walk comfortably around town - some cycling experience is necessary, you must need to know how to ride and balance a bike already.
• At present you need to supply your own bike, but we are looking into a bike hire option.
• Recommended age = 10yrs-100yrs.
• Wear suitable activewear & footwear for bike riding and trail walking.
• Sunscreen, sun hat and sunglasses - these are a must all year around in our harsh climate.
• Don't forget your camera!
